Spring Intern, Sarah DiFederico, Finds her Passion for PR at Greenough
In celebration of National Internship Awareness Month, we asked our spring intern, Sarah DiFederico, to reflect on her experience at Greenough so far and share what she’d like other interns to know.
While everyone has heard of public relations, few really know what it means to work in this field until they’ve actually dipped their toe in the water. PR internships are a great way for students to get exposure to this field before entering the job market. We hope Sarah’s blog helps educate other college students and prospective interns who are looking to embrace PR as a possible career path!

As my Junior year as a Communications major at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst comes to a close, I can thank Greenough Brand Storytellers for increasing my love for public relations and making this year my most memorable yet.
Being an intern at Greenough has meant a lot to me. Everyone I have met along the way has been eager to help me execute a wide range of projects and learn new skills to succeed. Since starting in January, I have already accomplished so much, such as creating social media posts for both client and agency accounts, writing press releases and securing publication opportunities, and compiling briefing documents for media interviews. Each of these projects has made me feel valued by the team and like a key contributor to the company.
Greenough has given me everything I expected and more as my first work experience and internship in the communications field. I was welcomed by the team with open arms and have seen firsthand how the team works efficiently and professionally with each other to ensure the best outcomes for clients. The Greenough team has always been extremely hands-on, and my questions never fail to be answered thoughtfully and thoroughly, which has provided me with the perfect balance of support and constructive criticism as I get my feet wet working at a fast-paced agency.
As we enter summer and my college classes conclude, I am looking forward to spending more time working at Greenough. I anticipate becoming even more immersed in the day-to-day client work and rolling up my sleeves to drive great results.
I credit Greenough and my PR teammates for my success and am extremely thankful for everything I have experienced to date and what I know I will continue to learn in the future.
